Seven years after Cher swore on live television and more than 30 years after it last made a ruling on broadcast indecency, the Supreme Court today upheld the federal government's right to crack down on TV networks' airing of expletives. But it stopped short of ruling on a separate challenge as to whether the regulations infringed the First Amendment, leaving the decision to a lower court—and frustrating free-speech advocates.

The Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 for the Federal Communications Commission's right to regulate even "fleeting expletives," the commission's shorthand that describes when a curse word is suddenly blurted out on live television. Those weren't treated as indecent until the FCC changed its policy in 2004 as part of a crackdown triggered by Janet Jackson's momentary partial nudity at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show.
The case that came before the Supreme Court today began after incidents in which Cher swore on live television in 2002 and Nicole Richie did the same in 2003, both of which brought reprimands from the FCC. Although the FCC didn't fine the Fox TV network for airing the broadcasts, it declared that the actions were offensive. Fox challenged the commission's decision. Now, in explaining the court's decision to back the FCC's regulations, Justice Antonin Scalia called the commission's policy "neither arbitrary nor capricious," overturning a previous ruling made by a New York federal appeals court.

Microsoft Corp. is in discussions with Verizon Wireless to launch a touch-screen multimedia cellphone on the carrier's network early next year, in a bid to compete with Apple Inc.'s iPhone, people familiar with the matter said.Microsoft's project, which is code-named "Pink," is aiming to produce a phone that extends the tech giant's Windows Mobile cellphone operating system, adding new software capabilities. It would also likely include Microsoft's new Windows Marketplace for Mobile, a mobile application store along the lines of Apple's, these people said.While Microsoft is involved in the design of the phone's software and hardware, a third-party is expected to make the device, just as Google Inc. has worked closely with partners to make handsets based on its Android operating system, people familiar with the matter say.

Former NBA Nets Star Jayson Williams In Hospital
Former NBA Nets star Jayson Williams was stunned by a teaser early this morning as Police were called to the Ex-basketball star's room after receiving reports that Williams was suicidal. Police stated that the Williams Manhattan hotel room was strewn with empty prescription bottles. Williams was tasered, handcuffed and taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. In 1990 Jayson Williams was a first-round pick in the NBA draft, he was named an All-Star and ranked second in the NBA for the 1997-1998 with 13 rebounds per game and a league-high 443 offensive rebounds. He was convicted in 2004 of trying to cover up the shooting death of his hired driver Costas "Gus" Christofi at his mansion in Alexandria Township, N.J., in February 2002.
Aerosmith To Give Free Concert
Aerosmith will be performing a free concert in Maui for the concert goers who brought a class action suit against the band when they cancelled a show for a bigger show in Chicago two years ago. The case stated that ticket holders were reported to have between $500,00 to $3 million out-of-pocket expenses including travel fees, handling charges and other expenses had been taken into account. "Everyone who bought a ticket to the original concert will receive a free ticket, and all out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed regardless of the amount," said Brandee Faria. Verizon has had nothing but good things happen since its aquisition of Alltel. The company is the world's largest wireless provider and it also has seen its earnign grow by 5.3%. With the good news also come rumors that the company is in talks with Apple to offer the iPhone next year. It is reported that actor William Petersen will revise the role of Gil Grisson in the CSI movie. “There’s a story that can’t be told on TV and needs to be told from CSI’s perspective and the audience wants it,” Petersen said. “And we can’t wait for CSI to end or Grissom will be about 90.” Currently there aren't any details about when the movie will come to the big screen.

Some of the men on the list, such as JoaquÍn Guzman and Ismael Zamabada, are already targeted by $5 million reward offers from the US GovernmentEndemic corruption within Mexico’s political class and law enforcement organisations has made direct action against the cartel chiefs highly risky for anyone who dares take part in it. Mexican police arrest 44 in baptism raid on drugs cartel
About 400 police officers raided a christening party for a baby born to a member of one of Mexico’s feared drug cartels, arresting several suspected gangsters and seizing a formidable arsenal. The raid was on the Familia Michoacana, a drug cartel named by the US this week as a major player in the international narcotics trade. Police arrested 44 alleged members of the group at a hotel party after the church service in Morelia, the capital of the western state of Michoacán. Among those detained was Rafael Cedeño Hernández, the gang’s second in command, who is said to be responsible for transporting drugs from Central America and expanding its empire in the state of Guerrero and Acapulco, its largest city. He was at the celebration to see his grandson christened. Rodrigo Esparza, a special forces commander, said that the Michoacana gang controlled the movement of cocaine from Central America and of ephedrine, a drug similar to amphetamine, from Asia and Europe He added that police seized three R15 rifles, a Kalashnikov, five grenades, six pistols, ammunition and four bags containing marijuana and cocaine. The Familia operates as a paramilitary organisation, claiming to offer protection to civilians while the authorities are struggling to contain the gangs.

COURT JAILS COMPANY FOR STEALING MUSIC!
A court in Sweden has jailed four men behind The Pirate Bay (TPB), the world's most high-profile file-sharing website, in a landmark case. Frederik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Carl Lundstrom and Peter Sunde were found guilty of breaking copyright law and were sentenced to a year in jail. They were also ordered to pay $4.5m (£3m) in damages. Speaking at an online press conference, he described the verdict as "bizarre.
"It's serious to actually be found guilty and get jail time. It's really serious. And that's a bit weird," Sunde said.
"It's so bizarre that we were convicted at all and it's even more bizarre that we were [convicted] as a team. The court said we were organised. I can't get Gottfrid out of bed in the morning. If you're going to convict us, convict us of disorganised crime. "We can't pay and we wouldn't pay. Even if I had the money I would rather burn everything I owned, and I wouldn't even give them the ashes." The damages were awarded to a number of entertainment companies, including Warner Bros, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI, and Columbia Pictures. However, the total awarded fell short of the $17.5m in damages and interest the firms were seeking.

A driving instructor who police say was drunk while giving someone a driving lesson can stay out of jail but will lose his license for a year. Daniel Winsky, 53, of Salem was convicted Thursday of operating under the influence while giving a lesson from the passenger seat of a car. He was sentenced to 18 months probation but won't be a licensed driver for one year.

YOUTUBE GOES AFTER HULU!
Youtube goes after Hulu by adding television shows and movies to its site. Hulu has become a popular site that offers current television shows for people to watch. Youtube has a deal Sony, CBS, Metro-Goldwyn, BBC, and Lions Gate Entertainment to showcase their content on the site. The only downside to this is that Youtube will only be airing old television show content such as Alf. Hulu however offers consumers current television shows just after they are aired on television. Hulu is owned by NBC.

Georgie Vodka, of which advertisements appear on the back of New York City buses, is willing to offer Ms. Kardashian a position at the company in light of her being fired by another liquor producer.
“We are outraged by the conduct of Mr. Trump's of Ms. Kardashian and would love for her to be one of our own apprentices in the future,” says Silver.

It's a billion-dollar divorce!" says celebrity divorce lawyer Raoul Felder.Yesterday's headlines that Mel Gibson, 53 and his wife Robyn Moore, also 53, were filing for divorce after 28 years of marriage has now been eclipsed by a handful of thornier follow-up questions. Namely, how much will the split cost the A-lister? How will it affect his reputation? Will it jeopardize the projects he has in development? And perhaps, most tantalizing of all, will it be the costliest celebrity divorce ever?
In short, the answers are: lots, remains to be seen, not likely, and almost certainly yes.
With no indication that the couple had hammered out a prenuptial agreement before their 1980 wedding, Gibson's low-profile wife is now legally entitled to half of everything he's earned over their nearly-three decades together, according to Felder, which could translate into roughly $500 million.
People.com estimates Gibson's fortune to be in the neighborhood of $1 billion (The Passion of the Christ, a labor of love project he directed and produced, pulled in $600 million at the box office, alone), which puts the split on track to be the richest celebrity divorce ever. Other celeb splits with lots of zeroes include Michael Jordan paying $168 million in his 2006 divorce from his wife Juanita, Steven Spielberg's shelling out $100 million in his 1989 split from actress Amy Irving, and Sir Paul McCartney's $48.6 million 2008 settlement with Heather Mills.
Obviously, half of a billion is still a nice chunk of change to have left in your bank account. So don't cry for Gibson yet. The stickier issue, however, may be whether the split will tarnish Gibson's reputation as a devoted father (Gibson and Moore have seven kids ranging in age from 9 to 28) and a devout Christian -- an image already damaged by his 2006 arrest for drunken driving and the bizarre tirade that accompanied it.
"If he was Matthew Broderick or Tom Hanks, the answer would be yes," says Felder. "But the public has been desensitized already to this fellow, so I don't think it's going to affect him at all."

Phil Spector found guilty
After six years of being out on bail Legendary Rock Producer Phil Spector was convicted of second degree murder of actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. The prosecution stated that Phil shot Lana after a she tried to leave his home in February 2003 after a night of drinking. For those of you that have been affected with the Red Ring of Death on your Xbox 360 be aware that there is a new bug called "E74 error". It is reported that Microsoft is offering to repair all consoles free of charge and extending the 3yr warranty. YOUTUBE AND UNIVERSAL MUSIC FORGE PARTNERSHIP
U2 lead singer Bono, well known for his ONE campaign against poverty, has turned his focus to a charity case closer to home: the ailing music industry.The rocker is credited with bringing together Universal Music Group, the world's biggest music company, and YouTube, Google Inc.'s online video site, for talks that on Thursday resulted in a partnership to launch a music video service featuring professionally produced content from the label's big-name acts. YouTube will create a dedicated channel on its site, to be called Vevo, where users can watch music videos from Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Weezer and other Universal artists. Later this year, Universal and YouTube will debut a separate online music video site, Vevo.com, where viewers can watch music videos from Universal's library. YouTube will provide the underlying technology, Universal will furnish the content, and the partners will split the advertising revenue.

Kurt Cobain Back From the Dead?
Thieves have stole the identity of late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain. It has been reported that a $3.2 million dollar home was purchased just last year in Brunswick, New Jersey and two cars. The thieves have also stole $69 million from a trust fund that was set up for their daughter Frances Bean now fourteen. Kurt's widow Courtney Love has also reported that 188 credit cards have been opened up in her name. Love stated that she new about the fraud that was going on back in 2003 but no one believed her. During that time Love it has been reported that Love was battling a drug addiction that could have contributed to the lack of support from others.
VIRGIN MOBILE OFFERS "PINK SLIP PROTECTION"
Many automakers and dealerships are starting to offer to pay potential customers car notes up to 9 months if they become unemployed after purchasing a new vehicle. Some companies are even offering to pay up to $500 a month on your car note. Other companies are starting to follow suit such as Virgin Mobile who is now offering the "Pink Slip Protection" plan. The plan will waive up to 3 months of charges if a subscriber looses their job. Virgin Mobile also plans to launch on April 15th a $50 a month unlimited phone plan. People who sign up for this plan will automatically be enrolled in the 'Pink Slip Protection" plan.

CHECK OUT THE 2010 Acura ZDX
Acura said the production ZDX will get Acura's SH-AWD (Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive) system. The production version will also get a new blind-spot information system and a new multiview rear camera with wide-angle and top-down views. Acura used such words as "sensuous" and "emotional" to describe the ZDX prototype and said in a statement that it was clearly in the hunt for "an entirely new customer." The ZDX prototype grabs attention with such details as an all-glass tailgate, a panoramic glass roof, 20-inch Michelin tires and door handles concealed in the C-pillar. Exterior cues include a sharply raked roof line and striking fender flares. Its "quad coupe" design is similar to the slinky shapes of the BMW X6 and Infiniti FX35. The ZDX prototype's cabin features a dual cockpit layout and black-and-pearl-white leather trim. Acura did not release technical or engine specifications on the production ZDX. While pricing has not yet been announced, it is expected to range between $42,000 and $50,000.
Jack Wrangler, gay porn idol, dead at 62

NEW YORK -- The 1970s gay porn idol Jack Wrangler has died at age 62. Lewis Tice, director of publicity and marketing for TLA Releasing, a distributor of gay-themed independent films, says Wrangler died in New York City of complications of lung disease. Wrangler starred in numerous gay adult movies and went on to become a musical theater performer. His life was chronicled in last fall's documentary "Wrangler: Anatomy of an Icon." Tice says Wrangler starred in more than 80 adult films beginning in the 1970s. Wrangler later married pop vocalist Margaret Whiting, who survives him.

Hugh Jackman upset over movie release
How does Wolverine Origins star feel about the leak of his new movie one month before its release date? "It's a serious crime and there's no doubt it's very disappointing — I was heartbroken by it," Jackman told reporters at a Sydney promotional event for the movie. "Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It's like a Ferrari without a paint job." The movie has been viewed over 100,000 times on the Internet. The rough cut version did not have the completed CGI effects. The FBI is still investigating the leak. A reporter from Fox News was fired after he watched the movie and wrote a review on it. Google to Purchase Twitter!
Google is looking to purchase popular website Twitter. It is rumored that Google will pay cash for the site. Twitter's estimated price is at $250 million. "[California-based] Twitter's value is in its content, growing by 6.0 million tweets [posts] per day. "Twitter is attractive because it has built a service that attracts this much volume, creating a constantly growing, twitching, seething real-time source of comments, news and opinions," said Jeff Mann of Gartner research.
